Clark Township Issues Snow Storm Reminder: Vehicles Must Be Off Streets
Clark Township officials are reminding residents to prepare and follow these winter weather and snow emergency guidelines.
The most important step residents can take is to remove all vehicles from township streets. According to Clark ordinance § 347-10, Temporary Parking Prohibition for Snowplowing, when snowfall accumulates enough to cover the roadway, Clark’s Snow Emergency Parking Prohibition automatically goes into effect on these designated Snow Emergency Routes.
No vehicles may be parked on those streets until they have been sufficiently plowed, and parking will not interfere with traffic. Vehicles left on these roadways may be ticketed and towed, and owners will be responsible for all costs.
The ordinance also details: • If 3 inches or more of snow falls within 24 hours, parking is prohibited within 90 feet of any intersection unless the street has been cleared. • On streets less than 30 feet wide, parking on both sides of the road is prohibited until plowing is completed.
Residents who need alternative parking during snow emergencies may park vehicles along the curbline at the Clark Pool, and within designated coned areas at Bartell Park and Curry Field, as well as adjacent to the tennis courts at the Recreation Department.
In addition to removing vehicles, residents should ensure that any basketball hoops, sports nets, garbage containers, recycling bins, and similar properties are removed so plows and emergency vehicles have clear access. Place pails and cans for pick up at the end of driveways or along property lines, not in the street.
Additional winter weather reminders include:
- Sidewalks must be cleared edge to edge
- Do not plow or throw snow into the roadways
- Fire hydrants must be kept clear and accessible
- Avoid all downed wires and call 911 immediately if one is encountered
- Use 911 for emergencies only. For non-emergency police assistance contact the Clark PD at 732-388-3434
- Report power outages directly to PSE&G at 1800 436-7734 or online.
Township personnel will be working throughout the storm to maintain safe and passable roadways. Community cooperation plays an important role in allowing crews to clear streets efficiently and safely.
